HEAD NO 17

Situation One asks Readers to select a shot for the last bowl of the red skipper for the tenth end of a fours game where the blue Skipper has played both his bowls. Blue holds five shots with the scores (including these five bowls)  – blue 16 and red 13.  Situation Two changes the end to the 100th with the following scores (including the five blue shots) – red TEAM 23, blue TEAM 24; red SIDE 101, blue SIDE 103. If the  red skipper can reduce the blue shots TO two, he can win the game for his SIDE and his TEAM. (16/6/09)

This head shows a cluster of four blue bowls  at the back of the head. Both Skippers have played their first bowl. Both situations ask what shot the red Skipper should play with the blue Skipper still having one bowl to play. Situation One states that game has reached the last end for the Team but only the 97th end for the Side. Situation Two offers the head as the last end for both the Team and the Side. (5/7/09)
